Read All About It: Opening Times
‘Opening Times’ is the monthly free local CAMRA magazine covering the cities of Manchester and Salford, plus Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, North East Cheshire and Macclesfield. It has a circulation of 7,200 copies per month.
The one pictured is for February 2012 and consists of 24 pages, with a whole variety of topics.
These include the Stockport and South Manchester CAMRA ‘Pub of the Month’ (which was Ye Olde Woolpack in Stockport.); Comment, News and Contents; What’s On; and a regular column by ‘Curmudgeon’’ who poses the question - “When is a beer not a beer?”
There is also an article about the Stockport and South Manchester Pub of the Year, which was the ‘Bulls Head’, Manchester, whilst the runner up was the well known ‘Crown’ in Stockport.
There are reports of visits to pubs in Didsbury and Marple and District, High Peak Pub Scene, along with small photo’s of some of the hostelries that were visited.
An article promoting a new publication - ‘Manchester Pubs By tram’ - is followed by a preview of the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry’s beer festival.
There is also a two-page photographic spread and a report of the recent National Winter Ales Festival in Manchester. Yet more pub reports with ‘The Hat Goes Forth’ or in other words, out and about in Tameside.
Letters to the Editor us followed by CAMRA Awards Gallery and then Brewery News covering Hydes to the Bollington Brewery, and Robinsons to Quantum.
There is always plenty to read in ‘Opening Times’ and the fact that it is a monthly publication means that the items are up to date.
Anyone who would like a copy of their branch magazine to be reviewed in this Blog can do so, by contacting me firstly at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will happily forward more details.
